Payroll/Human Resources Specialist

Hall’s Culligan Water and PrairieFire Coffee Roasters has an immediate opening for a Human Resource (HR) and Payroll Specialist.

Our family of companies employs 750 people across 9 states in over 40 dealerships. This position will be responsible for processing payroll and supporting HR practices across all of our locations.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for our 5 companies along with another payroll specialist.
  • Process all employee actions and required documentation for new hires, employee changes, compensation changes, and terminations accurately and timely.
  • Provide timely response to employee payroll inquiries.
  • Perform pre-employment screenings and monitor the status of conditions of employment.
  • Coordinate and complete employment verification requests.
  • Provide general HR and Payroll programs and systems support and data reporting.
  • Distribute and manage all new hire paperwork, new hire benefits orientation and provide support to benefit programs enrollment.
  • Support various HR practices that include, but are not limited to, HR policy and procedures, recruiting, benefits, hiring, onboarding, training, employee relations, and exit interviews.
  • Maintain electronic employee records and information in various HR and Payroll systems.
  • Establish and maintain all files and filing within the human resources department in an organized and secure fashion.
  • Manage, track and ensure compliance with all driver DOT requirements.
  • Consult with managers and staff on all HR matters.



  • Detail oriented and self-motivated with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to produce accurate, detailed, high volume work in a deadline driven environment.
  • Customer service focused: Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to multi-task, work with multiple priorities and constant demands and interruptions.
  • Ability to work independently with minor direction.
  • Basic knowledge of human resource practices and current labor laws across multiple states.
  • Ability to become proficient in multiple software programs simultaneously.
  • Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, v-lookups and multi-function complex formulas.
  • Basic computer skills in office programs including Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be responsive and highly efficient with relaying information.
  • Ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information.


Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. College degree helpful.
  • Previous Human Resource and Payroll experience required.

The Human Resource and Payroll Specialist is a full time, non-exempt position.
